"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."  Psalm 91:1-2

STARR WILLIAMS - Generations Church would like to introduce our new Military Ministry director, Starr Williams. Starr comes to Generations with a wealth of first-hand knowledge about the pain, hurt, and difficulty that military families experience because of the horrors of combat. Starr's oldest son Christopher was wounded in action on June 23, 2006 while conducting convoy operations near Baghdad Iraq. The vehicle he was in was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device or IED. Two of his fellow soldiers died in the attack and there was one other soldier wounded besides Chris. Chris's wounds were nearly life-ending as he died several times enroute to the United States from Iraq requiring resuscitation by doctors. To this day Chris struggles with his injuries and Starr and her husband Doug have seen first hand the pain that families endure of those who defend our freedom. With her experiences with the military medical and administrative system, she can offer much needed assistance to families as well as the more important aspect of their recovery - the love of Jesus Christ! If you have questions regarding our military ministry, please contact Starr at 951-805-4655 or on her email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Generations' Military Ministry-  is here to support those who are fighting for our freedom to worship the Lord Jesus Christ! Our men and women in uniform are sacrificing their lives on foreign battlefields to preserve our way of life. The cost is high but the reward can't be measured in human terms.  "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends." John 15:13

Battlefield Ministries-  is the non-profit organization that partners with  Generations Church to provide bibles, books, Shields of Strength dog tags, comfort items from home, and assistance to military families who have had a loved one  wounded or killed in the line of duty. God has placed a burden on our heart to get a bible, copy of Reflections from the Battlefield, and a Shield of Strength dog tag to every Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Airmen, Coast Guard, and civilian warrior on the front lines. To date we have sent over 3000 copies of Reflections, 1000 bibles, and hundreds of Shields. The response has been overwhelming with revival breaking out in many parts of Iraq. There are over 140,000 troops on the battlefield so there is much more work to be done to achieve this goal.

Reflections from the Battlefield-  The book inspired by Ryan's 3 combat  tours and countless life experiences that initially took the form of weekly emails sent home to Generations and family members, but later reaching some 20,000 people through the world wide prayer chain developed by Phil Presley. The resulting collection of "Reflections" and experiences were published by Blest Press and released September 11th, 2005. God has been using Reflections from the Battlefield to encourage and bring hope to countless battle-weary troops and comfort and peace to families left behind. To date, more than 3000 copies of Reflections have been sent to the front lines at no cost to military personnel. Pastor Ryan-  having served over 16 years in the Navy, with 3 combat tours including 2 tours in Iraq, knows first hand the the kind of unique pressures and challenges that our troops experience on the battlefield. Our congregation has a unique ability to reach out to this community in real and tangible ways with the love of Jesus Christ.  Some of the partner ministries that we share the burden of military ministry with are:

Armor of Light-  the military ministry of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Pastor Steve Brown is the director for this ministry and also serves as a Chaplain in the US Navy.  This ministry has focused on the Camp Pendleton and 29 Palms Marine Corps Bases in Southern California serving Marines, Sailors, and thier families. If you would like to find out more about the outreach opportunites or how to get involved please contact Steve at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Shields of Strength-  are the creation of Kenny Vaughan, a champion water ski jumper, who overcame his fear of competition by trusting God's Word. His turnaround started when his girlfriend Tammy, now his wife, wrote Scripture verses on his towrope. The amazing movement that followed is now impact thousands of troops on the battlefield who now wear God's word on their dog tags.  Every copy of Reflections from the Battlefield that Battlefield Ministries sends to the front-lines, now contains a Shield of Strength.  Visit Kenny and read more about this amazing ministry  we have partnered with: www.shieldsofstrength.com

Project Prayer Flag-  is the ministry of Shawn and Angelica Black.  Project Prayer Flag first realized its beginning shortly after the events of September 11th, 2001. During this time of Military deployments and sacrifices, millions of prayers of support went out to our Military men and women. They continue today with those on the front lines, defending Freedom and instilling the hope  of  Liberty.  Check them out at: www.projectprayerflag.org

Battlefield Ministries'  worldwide prayer chain-  is managed and coordinated by Phil Presley and is the connection that God made between Pastor Ryan and Phil while Ryan was deployed on his second tour in Iraq. God used Phil and Ryan to relay words of encouragement to troops on the battlefield from wounded serviceman and family members back home. It was also the beginning of what is now Pastor Ryan's book, Reflections from the Battlefield, which started our as weekly email updates sent from the battlefield to his church and friends back home. His connection with Phil brought those weekly "Reflections" to more than 20,000 people around the globe in 7 countries. Ryan and Phil still work together on various projects to reach out to our men and women in uniform.  To receive Phil's daily prayers and other information, check out  http://coach159.tripod.com.

Touch of Home-  is a local non-profit organization that is providing hundreds of items to our troops overseas giving them a touch of the comforts of home. These can be as simple as new socks or toothbrushes, or as large as books, bibles, or other material.  Diane and Bill Boone direct this ministry knowing firsthand the challenges of war with a daughter currently serving in the Army.
