Choices of the Heart
Sunday, 24 April 2011
Speaker Name:
Lewis Russo | Matthew 26:47
Series:
Matthew 26:47
Description:
Happy Easter! Today’s Resurrection service was an amazing celebration of the choice we made… We make choices daily, hourly and even every second of our life. Even Jesus made choices while he was here on earth. Our choices we make either result in blessings or consequences. Jesus calls us to make a choice to either serve Him or serve mammon, the world or other THINGS. The world watches what we do so we need to be aware of how our choices are reflecting our relationship with Jesus. He has placed people in our path to sharpen us, as iron sharpens iron. We must understand that we are responsible for our choices, no one else. We cannot ride on the coattails of our parents, spouse, friends, etc., it is a personal relationship, a personal choice! This choice of the heart is not does Jesus love me, it is DO YOU Love Jesus…
Totally Triumphant
Sunday, 17 April 2011
Speaker Name:
Lewis Russo | Luke 19
Series:
Luke
Description:
Did you know God already has a perfect plan for you and your life/future? Did you know it is better than anything you could pull together? Do you walk around feeling or acting defeated? Stop it! Stop looking at the circumstances around you and look at Christ! You are triumphant in and through Christ Jesus! Just like the Veggie Tales song “My God is Bigger than the Boogey Man”, your God is bigger than your circumstances. Who has been in charge of your life, you or God? With God in charge He already knows the situation and already knows the end result, both with Him in charge and with you in charge. Which result do you think ends up better? Just like Jesus sending His disciples to retrieve the donkey that has never been ridden from a specific home, He sees the big picture while all we see is the dot. So why is this story so relevant to us today…
God’s empowering through spiritual gifts
Sunday, 10 April 2011
Speaker Name:
Lewis Russo | 1 Corinthians 12:1-11
Series:
1 Corinthians
Description:
God desires His church to be empowered not complacent. God empowers us through the gifts of the Spirit. Many of us have natural gifts that come easily to us, however God is wanting more of us as we have been learning the past few weeks. So how do you get more in the gifting area? Natural gifts need to be taken to the next level through the empowering of the Holy Spirit in our lives. So why do so many squirm in their seats when the topic of Spiritual Gifts comes up? We squirm because spiritual gifts cannot be controlled by man, God is truly in control which makes people uncomfortable. We need to remember that God has gifted each of us and we are each a gift of God. We need to remember that the gifts are elements of God given to us so there is no need to control them or freak out about them. Have your heard God’s call to you regarding gifting? Are you responding to God’s call in your life? We have developed a great timidity in the church today, we have become the sleeping giant. It is time for us to wake up and embrace the gifting and empowerment of God, NOW! Let’s be an empowered church, allowing the Spirit of God to move through this church for the Glory of God!
“Without Spot or Wrinkle”, Part 2
Sunday, 03 April 2011
Speaker Name:
Lewis Russo | 1 Thessalonians 5:16-28
Series:
1 Thessalonians
Description:
As we wrap up this chapter in 1 Thessalonians we see that once again God has raised the bar for us. Do you rejoice ALWAYS? Do you pray WITHOUT CEASING? Do you give thanks in EVERYTHING? These are some pretty high standards that God has set for us as believers. The great part is we do not have to do it alone, we can strive to attain these goals through Jesus Christ. Today we will learn the difference between rejoicing and being happy, did you know they are two different things? We will also learn how it is possible to pray without ceasing and what an attitude of prayer is and finally how to give thanks in everything in our lives. We need to remember as children of God we have much to rejoice and be thankful about, sometimes we just need a gentle reminder. God desires us to be the opposite of what the world teaches, He wants us to become more dependent on Him, to rely on Him to reach the bar He has carefully set for us. Are you ready for more of Jesus in your life?
How do you get past it
Sunday, 27 March 2011
Speaker Name:
Danny Scott | Philippians 3:11-16
Series:
Philippians 3
Description:
Are you relentless in what you do or focus on? Do you play to win or make an impact? Do you keep moving forward refusing to become stagnant? Today it is so easy to become stagnant instead of continuing to move forward at all costs. The thing is if we become stagnant or complacent we become like the murky, stale, stinky water that is not moving. The key to getting past your “it” is to be relentless, putting God in the driver’s seat and go along for the ride. God is really excited when we take action and move forward in the things we are called to do. Are you excited, filled with anticipation in what God may be doing in your life today? Two steps that can help your become relentless: 1. Be Restless: do not be content where you are in your relationship with Jesus, He wants you to keep moving! 2. Be Relentless: Where do you spend most of your time? What consumes you? Jesus? Don’t be afraid to fail in what you do in faith, don’t get hung up on your past, look forward with anticipation at what lies ahead.
Without Spot Or Wrinkle
Sunday, 20 March 2011
Speaker Name:
Lewis Russo | 1 Thessalonians 5:12-15
Series:
1 Thessalonians
Description:
Are you ready? The church needs to recognize that we are in fact living in the last days and today’s message addresses a few crucial questions we need to ask ourselves, responding brutally honestly: 1. What is your measuring rod? Do you try to justify yourself by comparing yourself to the man next to you? Our measuring rod should be Jesus Christ 2. How peace is authentically achieved? 3. How are we speaking to each other? 4. Are you reaching your community? 5. Are you growing in your faith? 6. Do you examine yourself or try to change others? Today Pastor Lewis will cover all of these in 1 Thessalonians 5:12-15. Let’s all strive to be relationally spotless and wrinkle free. The Lord has a way of dealing with the unruly and critical in spirit. We are called to make a difference in our community reaching out, not trying to change them.
The Day of the Lord
Sunday, 13 March 2011
Speaker Name:
Lewis Russo | 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
Series:
1 Thessalonians 5
Description:
This past week we have seen a taste of what the end times have to offer and it is time for the church to wake up and be prepared. It is not about scaring people into heaven, it is about sharing the truth so that people will confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord. Basically it is not about fire insurance it is about life insurance. The church as a whole has been sleeping and it is time we wake up and get into people’s faces, in love and truth. If we do not get in their face what will they face in the end? It is time to recognize the times we live in, knowing what the word has to say about what is happening around us, or perhaps to us. Recognize that God is in control and begin living your life like what you believe. We have to understand that satan’s goal and objective is to render us useless so that we have no idea what is happening around us so we are not effective for the kingdom of heaven. People are not just hurting because of their circumstances, they are hurting spiritually. Time to practice what we believe!
Caught Up Together
Sunday, 06 March 2011
Speaker Name:
Lewis Russo | 1 Thessalonians 4:13-16
Series:
1 Thessalonians
Description:
Do you believe what the Bible says to be truth? How about as the authority in your life? God wants us to live like we are going to be raptured, according to 1 Thessalonians 4:13-16. Which means we have to know the truth of the bible, believe it in our hearts and apply it to our life. Do you need to get out of the way and allow God’s word to saturate your life?
Dry Bones
Sunday, 27 February 2011
Speaker Name:
Lewis Russo | Ezekiel 37
Series:
Ezekiel 37
Description:
As we look at the valley of Dry Bones, we need to remember that valleys are put into our path so that we can pass through them, not stay in them. By passing through a valley, God is able to build our faith. Faith is like a rubber band, it is worth nothing unless it is stretched.
