1. Why do newcomers make Generations their church home?
Overwhelmingly, the number one reason people make Generations their home church is the warmth and love they experience in our family. Secondly, people are drawn to Generations because of our primary focus on prayer and intimacy with God. Preaching and teaching are Biblical and balanced, staff are not overbearing but committed to serve, and children are well cared for. In addition newcomers quickly experience the comfort and encouragement of being part of a Christian community. Most newcomers find that friends are easily made.
2. How is a person made right with God?
By repenting of his or her sins and receiving, though faith, Jesus Christ, as the Lord and Savior. See our Statement of Faith
3. What is your position on the authority of Scripture?
The Bible is the infallible Word of God. It was inspired by the Holy Spirit through the hands of human authors and is without error in the original manuscripts. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life. See our Statement of Faith
4. Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven?
Yes. While there may be a variety of different manners in which people worship and express themselves to God, ultimately, there is one way to the Father by way of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man comes to the Father except by Me.” See our Statement of Faith
5. What is your position on the Lordship Salvation issue, i.e., Can a person take Jesus as Savior without taking him as Lord?
No, Jesus is both Savior and Lord. To receive Him is to receive Him as Savior and Lord or to not receive Him at all.
6. Do you have members?
Yes and No. Yes we have those who we would consider members of Generations who are committed to the mission and calling that God has given us. We require leadership to go through certain classes and to observe their lives prior to being placed in a leadership position. However, we do not have formal members or a membership role.
7. How do I get involved?
There are a variety of ways to get involved at Generations Church. The best way is to begin attending prayer services on Friday night and some of the other Church events. Any staff member can be approached regarding opportunities and places to serve.
8. I want to be baptized, what’s the first step?
Well, the first step of course is to make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior. Click here to find out about Salvation. The next step is to approach someone in leadership on Sunday and let us know you want to be baptized! We typically hold one baptism per quarter on a Sunday evening.
9. Do you have a doctrinal statement that you take seriously? Yes, See our Statement of Faith
10. Who are your favorite authors?
Jim Cymbala, John Bevere, Henry Blackaby, Max Lucado, and Billy Graham. My wife Kellee enjoys Beth Moore, Tim Lahaye, and Jerry Jenkins in addition to the ones I've listed.
11. What are your views regarding divorce and remarriage?
We believe the Bible allows for divorce and remarriage in the cases of adultery or physical abandonment of the marriage by an unbelieving spouse. Malachi 2:14-16, 1 Corinthians 7:12-16; Matthew 5:32; 19:9
12. What is your position on the charismatic movement? Generations Church is a Non-Denominational, Spirit-Filled church. While we believe in the full exercise of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit we firmly believe the Bible gives very clear guidance as to their use in the church. Allowing God to move in the Power of His Spirit does not mean that “anything goes.” God is a God of order and we subscribe to order in our services and allow God to direct. What would I call myself? I would say I am a conservative-charismatic!
13. How would the church handle a case of scandal or immorality by a member?
We believe that living in the age of grace does not mean that sin goes unchecked. Church discipline is conducted with two goals in mind: First, to address the sin according to God’s Word and hold accountable. Second: to restore such persons to favor with God and fellow believers. These goals together with God’s discernment will help to assure both that people’s reputations are protected from false accusation and that scandalous conduct or heresy is not permitted to go on in the church. 1 Corinthians 5:1-13, Hebrews 12:3-11.
14. How old is your church?
Generations Church was planted in January of 2002 by my wife Kellee and I and another couple, Philip and Lori Mason. We have gone through several phases of our existence to include 2 deployments to Iraq on my part and Phil and Lori’s calling to Texas in 2005. We were combined with another church for most of 2005 and have now emerged again with a fresh direction and focus. We are in our new facility preparing for what God has next!
15. Who are you affiliated with?
Generations Church is an independent church with no denominational affiliation. However, we participate with many local congregations in the work of the Kingdom in our local area and I have accountability and deep friendships with many local pastors.
16. How would you describe your worship?
Our worship represents a blend of 80s, 90s, and modern worship songs. We have a full band in place and consider worship to be one of the high points of our service. We typically use music from sources such as Vineyard, Hillsongs, Integrity and other artists, but lately have experienced a new freshness in our spirits through the music of Christ for the Nations International. www.cfnimusic.com.
17. How would you describe the preaching at Generations?
Preaching is grounded in a thorough study of the Scripture, delivered in a style that is both serious and upbeat, and focused on applying truth to life. With multiple teenagers in the church and my own son Cameron turning 21, I understand the importance of breaking God’s Word down in a way that will reach every person where they are. I typically preach through a book of the Bible. Sermons last 30-45 minutes. Audio sermons are now available on this website by clicking on the "Listen Online" picture on the home page.
HERE IS WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT GENERATIONS!
“Friday night prayer night was the first opportunity I had to visit Generations Church. When I saw that prayer and the Word was the mainstay of this church, I wanted to jump on board! And I am so glad I did. Serving the Lord is the goal of the believers here at Generations. Everywhere you look you see God’s people diligently studying God’s Word and sharing God’s love. I have no doubt in my mind that sometimes people will let you down, but I’m here to tell you that God will never let you down! If you need a place to call your own, a place where people will love and guide you in HIS truth, please jump on board… you’ll be glad you did.” …Tonya
“The Lord has drawn me to the “heart” of Generations, which is Jesus Christ, first and foremost. Generations is a church where I am growing deeper in love with Jesus, in my prayer life, in my knowledge and understanding of the Word and in learning what it really means to be an interactive part of the body of Christ. My heart has melted as I have watched a consistent practice of the members of this church praying for one another, helping each other move, bringing groceries to each other when in need, etc. Jesus is the solid foundation of this church, and the beautiful people who make up the church are a precious family to me. I am thankful to be a part of a body of believers that steadfastly seeks to love and honor Christ in everything they do, and to love others.” …Jen
"Joining Generations Church has truly been a life-changing event for me. It's refreshing to hear a "no punches pulled", straight, matter-of-fact delivery of the Gospel each and every Sunday. Pastor Ryan has a unique talent for taking Scripture as it's written, and showing us how to apply it in our everyday lives, in today's modern, secular world. Come and join us; you'll always be welcome!"… Scott
"What is different about Generations! The foundation of this body of believers is prayer and Jesus Christ. It was a turning point in my walk with religion. I believed I was not worthy of his love and why would he want to love me. After all I was not walking the right path. On a Friday night, what seems like yesterday, the LORD started a softening in my heart . My life has being changed as a man, husband, father, and a friend. I give HIM all the glory! The heart of this church is reaching out to a lost and dying world and making a difference. Sharing the love of Jesus through his people. Man will fail you from time to time, but always remember no matter what HE will never fail you! If you are looking for a place where you can be accepted for who you are, learn biblical principles for your life, fellowship with other believers, and draw closer to Jesus; check it out for yourself. God loves you and so will we!" ...Tim
